New building from parking area

Geoff Lloyd writes (April 2006):

The organ in St John's Anglican Church at Asquith is currently being restored/enlarged/rebuilt into the new building which was opened November 2004.

The organ was built by Arthur Lord and installed at The Blind School, Wahroonga. It was of five ranks and had FF manuals of 44 notes and pedal compass of 25 notes with direct electric action. It subsequently went into storage and was then obtained by St John's and installed in the original 1921 church in 1967. It was altered and moved to a new building in 1969. In 1990 a console of three manuals and pedals was obtained. An account of the organ up to that stage was published in The Sydney Organ Journal of June/July 1993.

It is planned to complete the organ with thirteen ranks over three manuals and pedals. Some extension and duplexing will be employed. Action will be mainly direct-electric but some electro-pneumatic will be included.
