A FORSTER AND ANDREWS TRIO

Our King of Instruments program at 5 pm on Saturday 11 June 2022 on 2MBS Fine Music Sydney (102.5 FM) will feature three organs built by the well-known firm Forster and Andrews of Hull in the north of England.

Forster and Andrews was founded in 1843 and carried on business as a separate entity until 1924, when it was absorbed into the Christie firm. In the early 1860s, the partners met and got to know Edmund Schulze, who spent nearly 30 years working in Britain. Schulze’s influence was profound, and thereafter Forster and Andrews instruments were provided with the strong pedal basses, powerful diapasons and distinctive flutes and strings that characterised Schulze’s instruments.
