THE AUSTRALIA DAY ORGAN RAMBLE - TUESDAY 26 January 2010

TENTATIVE PROGRAMME
Please note that:
1. As at 17 December 2009, the churches listed hereunder and marked
with an asterisk have agreed to give us access and to hear and play
their organ but the other listed churches have not.
2. The travel times will be tested and this may result in some
variations in the starting times at some venues.
This programme will be up-dated as and when additional information comes
to hand.
It is therefore important that you check the Society’s web-site before
you leave home on the day.
10.00 am ST JOHN’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, Menangle Road, Camden.
11.00 am * ST JAMES’ ANGLICAN CHURCH Menangle Road, Menangle.
12.00 noon * ST MARK’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 7 Menangle Street (West), Picton.
2.30 pm All Saints’ Anglican Church, Moss Vale Road, Sutton Forest.
3.30 pm * Christ Church Anglican Church, Highlands Way and
Church Street, Bong Bong.
4.30 pm * St Peter’s Anglican Church, Cordeaux Street, Campbelltown.
The specifications are on the Society web-site but there will be a
hand-out with the specifications on the day.
Most of the instruments are small with one manual so that the usual time
for demonstration and “open console” have been shortened.
It will be good if members could volunteer to demonstrate one or more of
the instruments. If you are willing, please contact Neil Cameron by
telephone (4992776) or e-mail (nmc1938@gmail.com).

CORRECTION TO CONCERT DIARY (as found in the Journal)

Under February is given the information about a recital by Peter
Hamilton at St Andrew's Cathedral on 4/4. In fact, the recital is set
for Thursday 4th March. Please adjust your copy accordingly.

YOUNG ORGANISTS

Sydney Town Hall is not available for a Young Organists Day in January 2010.

However, young organists are to present the regular recitals in St
Andrew's Cathedral during January. Please note that these recitals will
be held on Thursdays, 1.10-1.40 pm.

OHTA/OMSS/AGO JOINT EVENT - Pitt Street Uniting Church, 11th April 2010

OHTA has agreed to organise the Easter Monday ramble, to be held in
conjunction with OMSS.

There is to be also a joint event at Pitt Street Uniting Church on
Sunday 11th April (from 2.00 pm) to include OHTA, OMSS and the Sydney
chapter of AGO. The lecturer/recitalist for the occasion will be
Frances Nobert, who will play works by women composers (including
Australian women) and give a lecture on this topic. To cover costs, a
rate has been set for the afternoon at $15.00 per person – quite modest.

The conference will close with a summary panel on the state of the organ
in Australia – details yet to be determined.

Members are encouraged to attend this event.

****************************************************************

Refer to the Concert Diary in the middle (almost) of your copy of The
Sydney Organ Journal for further items of interest. You may also access
the diary on our website.

Secretary is now in HOLIDAY MODE (although there's still the carol
service and Christmas day!).

A happy and holy Christmas to you all and best wishes for 2010.
