State Theatre

49 Market Street, Sydney

Wurlitzer 1929 (4/21 ranks extension, 216 stops, electric)
Currently unplayable but undergoing a lengthy restoration program in several stages

The console after restoration (Facebook)

Opened in 1929, this is one of the last great picture palaces, with all the lavish accoutrements of an old-fashioned opera house, complete with 13 chandeliers and Renaissance bronze doors. The Koh-I-Nor cut crystal chandelier is the second largest in the world, weighing over four tonnes. It seats 2,000 people.
