WORLD YOUTH DAY 2008 

THE FRANCISCAN ORDER PRESENTS:

 SOLEMN PONTIFICAL VESPERS OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

                                     AND A SACRED MUSIC CONCERT

                   

Venue: The Franciscan Mother Church: Mary Immaculate Church, Waverley

Date:    Friday 18th July 2008

Time:   Vespers at 8pm and the concert at 9pm

Cost:    Free

Address:  45 Victoria St. Waverley, 378 Bronte bus from Eddy Avenue or Bondi Junction

  

The vespers music will include a magnificat by Cavazzoni, sung in alternatum with a Gregorian schola and the remaining music sung by the choir of St Francis, Paddington. 

The music at the concert will include the Te Deum by Jean Langlais with the Gregorian schola singing the te deum chant; the cantata “Cantate Domino” by Buxtehude,  sung by counter tenor Timothy Chung with Jennifer Eriksson playing the virtuosic viola da gamba part. A number of student organists will also be performing solos including: Stacey Yang, Daniel Canaris, Sophie Gerber, Nicola Chau and Cathleen Dong.
