Charles Richardson 1922 (2/9 mechanical)

From SOJ Winter 1999:

The organ was supplied by Charles Richardson in 1922, being officially opened on Sunday 23 April. Of only nine stops, the instrument has several interesting features including mechanical action to the manuals at a time when tubular-pneumatic action was long established as the industry standard. The Swell shutters operate by means of a hitch-down lever instead of a balanced pedal, which by that time was universally adopted. The instrument is housed in a case with rounded corners, similar to that of the Richardson in St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Balmain. Richardson's organs after 1917 display a decreasingly local content and were largely or wholly imported from his father W.E Richardson & Sons in England. At some stage the organ was rebuilt by John Parker.
