From SOJ February/March 1993

A new organ was built for this church in 1931 by Frederick Taylor of Melbourne, displacing a small William Davidson organ. This latter organ, dating from 1891, was sold to St Alban's Anglican Church, Five Dock, where it may still be seen (although somewhat rebuilt and enlarged).

The Taylor organ, a large three manual instrument built with tubular-pneumatic action, was rebuilt with electric action by Geoffrey Kendell in 1977. J.W. Walker & Sons (Aust) were engaged in 1980 to effect a restoration and make tonal alterations. Several of the "prepared for" stops and tremulants were added by Peter D.G Jewkes in the mid-80s. The Great Tromba was extended down an octave to make the Pedal Trombone 16' and a new Swell Mixture was added to complete the Swell division.
