5.00pm - 6.00pm Fine Music FM Organ Music Society Radio Program 102.5MHz

"Society Spot" is the Organ Music Society's very own hour-long radio programme, which goes to air at 5pm on the second Saturday of the month on Fine Music Sydney, 102.5FM.  It is presented by Society member John Hanna.  It can be heard live, or streamed online by going to Fine Music Sydney's website here https://finemusicsydney.com/

ENGLAND’S GLORY

Our “King of Instruments” program at 5pm on Saturday 13 November 2021 on 2MBS Fine Music Sydney (102.5 FM) features mainly English music played on a variety of English organs. We’ll hear the following selections:

Franz von Suppe – Light Cavalry Overture (Alexander Eadon, St Saviour’s Church, Eastbourne). Walker, 1869, much altered and rebuilt.

Samuel Sebastian Wesley – Andante in E minor; Choral Song and Fugue (Ian Hare, Great Hall of Lancaster University). Bishop & Son, 1978.

Sigfrid Karg-Elert – Harmonies du Soir (Paul Hale, Southwell Minster). J. J. Binns, 1904, rebuilt 1992.

Edward Elgar – Imperial March (Timothy Parsons, Exeter Cathedral). Harrison & Harrison, 1965.

Trad. – Londonderry Air (Malcolm Archer, Lancaster Town Hall). Norman & Beard, 1909.

George Frideric Handel – March from “Occasional Oratorio” (Ian Hare, St Patrick’s Anglican Church, Patterdale). Hill, 1866, rebuilt 2012/3 with additional stops.

Arthur Somervell – Air in C major (Ian Hare, St Oswald’s Church, Grasmere). J. J. Binns, 1923, “tonally restrained” and tonally rearranged.

Reginald Goss-Custard – Chelsea Fayre (Alexander Eadon, St Saviour’s Church, Eastbourne).

Nigel Ogden – England’s Glory (Malcolm Archer, Lancaster Town Hall).
